All international students must verify English proficiency at the time of application to Kalamazoo College. This requirement can be waived for students who meet one of the following criteria:
- Applicant is originally from an English-speaking country and their primary language of instruction is English
- Applicants for whom English is a second language but have attended a secondary school in an English-speaking country for at least two years
- Applicants who have completed or are pursuing a full IB diploma and are taking English A1 or English A2 and have a predicted grade of 5 or higher
Use any of the methods below to verify English proficiency:
TOEFL – Internet-based TOEFL exam (iBT) (recommended score of 84 or higher) or computer-based TOEFL exam (recommended score of 213 or higher) (Institutional Code for Kalamazoo College: 1365)
SAT – Recommended evidence-based reading and writing score of 600 or higher
IELTS – Recommended score of 7 or higher
Duolingo Exam – A recommended score of 110 or higher, and an admission interview
